Advertising Photography for Different Media

One picture is worth a thousand words, and this is best demonstrated by advertising photography of today. Many ads we come across today do not even contain any word to sell the product or service. It is just the picture that they show which communicates with the readers. A picture well shot can actually do that – one look and the reader understands it all.

Advertising photography is done for various media, with the most frequent ones being magazines, newspapers and other kinds of journals. We flip through various magazines and come across some really attractive ads. This attractive quotient is dependent on the layout and to a large extent on advertising photography done in the advertisement. However, the advertising photography required for different print media differs from one another.

There is an offshoot of print media when it comes to advertising photography, and that is the brochures. Brochures are the first point of contact of a company with the potential customers, other than the commercials and the company’s website. It is at this stage that customers decide whether they would go with the organisation or not. They carry these brochures home for detailed analysis. And, therefore, it is quite imperative to have impressive advertising photography done for brochures.

Advertising photography is also required for outdoor campaigns. Outdoor campaigns would mean banners, billboards, kiosks and bus shelters. The advertising photography required in outdoor campaigns is different from what we use in print media. Every professional and experienced commercial photographer knows and understands the difference between the requirements.

Advertising photography for the web is a newer concept in comparison to others and it holds a lot of promise. Also, the opportunities are endless since the Internet sites are used and viewed by the whole world. Therefore, the opportunities of advertising photography expand immensely. It is a completely different platform from the other two.
